Bogusław Schaeffer (Bogusław Schäffer, born on June 6, 1929 in Lviv, died on July 1, 2019 in Salzburg) – an outstanding composer, music critic, musicologist, playwright, graphic artist and pedagogue, author of a number of monographs and articles on contemporary music and music history. He studied musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow with Zdzislaw Jachimecki and composition with Artur Malawski at the State Higher School of Music in Krakow. He was an editor at the Polish Radio in Krakow. From 1963, he lectured at the Academy of Music in Krakow, and from 1987 at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He worked as an academic teacher at the Jagiellonian University, Austrian Salzburg, Dutch Middelburg, English York and many other centers. He collaborated with the Experimental Studio of the Polish Radio composing dozens of electroacoustic music compositions. He was a member of Grupa Krakowska, Muzyka Centrum and Polish Society of Electroacoustic Music. Author of over 600 musical compositions, 44 dramas, many articles, graphics and publications.
